Canning Tips
Preserving your own homegrown garden vegetables and fruits can be very rewarding
and you can't beat the taste. Below you will find a list of canning tips and resources
that can make the process easier and help to guarantee success.

Tips for Successful Canning
- If a canning recipe has been successful in the past, don't change it!
- Use the two-piece lids that are approved for canning and don't reuse lids.
- Check your equipment for proper operation and sealing.
- Sterilize the jars and lids, keep them in hot water until ready for use.
- Check lips of jars for cracks and chips, don't use damaged jars.
- Pack jars full and use a plastic tool/knife to release trapped air in jars.
- Follow the pressure/timing requirements of your recipe.
